What Treatments Are Available for Vaginal Rejuvenation?

A woman’s body is a miraculous thing! It can carry a new life and sustain it internally for 9 months and can do this multiple times over a lifetime. However, childbirth, aging, and menopause can cause many unwanted changes to a woman’s body that need some attention in order to restore a sense of health and well-being. For many years, women suffered silently with some changes such as stress incontinence, vaginal dryness, and loss of the elasticity of the vagina. Because we believe that no one should suffer in silence, but should be able to access help to become the healthiest person possible, we would like to share one special treatment for vaginal rejuvenation.

What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Vaginal Rejuvenation refers to the treatment of a variety of physical changes affecting the vaginal canal, vaginal wall, or pelvic floor.  Some of these changes include urinary stress incontinence, reduced sensation during intercourse, pain during intercourse or stretching or damage to the vagina by childbirth or aging.

Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation

At Skinatomy Laser Clinic, we use the Viveve Vaginal Rejuvenation system. Vaginal Rejuvenation with the Viveve system combines radiofrequency heating combined with surface cooling to stimulate collagen production deep in the vaginal wall. This causes the vagina to regain firmness, elasticity, and lubrication.  It involves the use of a treatment wand that is attached to a tabletop unit. The wand emits tiny pulses of cryogen-cooled monopolar radiofrequency (CMRF). This radiofrequency energy heats vaginal tissue which causes it to contract. This tightens the tissue as well as stimulating new collagen production. Women begin seeing results in 30 days with full benefits appearing in about 90 days. New collagen will continue to be produced for up to 12 months after the treatment.
